What NY drill is

In the late 2010s, drill came back to the United States through New York. Rappers in Brooklyn started recording over beats in the London style, often made by UK producers, and put rougher, louder voices on those sliding basslines. Brooklyn drill was the result, and the Bronx soon had its own take.

The scene kept moving. Around 2021, artists in New York began putting R&B melodies over drill drums, and sexy drill was born: the same tempo and slides with a softer, flirtier mood. That is the lane the catalogue beats on this page come from.
