Trap beats
Trap is the sound most modern rap is built on: an 808 that carries the low end, hi-hats that roll and stutter, a snare that hits on the three. TH6 produces trap for artists who want that weight under their voice. The hoodtrap beats on this page are ready to lease today; for anything else in trap, TH6 makes a beat for your song.
Ready to lease: hoodtrap
Hoodtrap is trap at drill tempo, dark and melodic. These beats are ready now.
What trap is
Trap grew up in the American South and took its name in Atlanta in the early 2000s, after the trap house where drugs were sold. Producers built a sound to match: booming 808 bass, crisp snares and claps, and hi-hats played in quick rolls. From there it became the main language of hip-hop and split into countless styles, from melodic and moody to loud and minimal.
What holds those styles together is the half-time feel. A trap beat often runs at 130 to 160 BPM on paper, but the snare lands on the third beat, so the groove feels half as fast. That leaves room to switch between a slow, heavy flow and a double-time one on the same beat.
The sound of a trap beat
- Tempo: 130 to 160 BPM, felt at half speed (65 to 80).
- Drums: a hard kick, a snare or clap on the three, and hi-hats that roll in triplets, sixteenths and thirty-seconds.
- 808: long, tuned bass notes that follow the chords and often glide from one note to the next.
- Melody: a short loop of keys, bells, strings or a vocal chop, usually in a minor key, with space left for the voice.
- Arrangement: an intro, a hook that comes back, and verses where the drums drop out or switch up to keep the ear awake.
Writing to a trap beat
Find the pocket before you write. Rap along over the hi-hats with sounds instead of words until a rhythm sticks, then fill it with lines. Trap rewards repetition: a hook of two or three short lines you can repeat is worth more than a clever one you cannot.
Give the 808 room. If your voice is low, the bass can sit a little lower or play fewer notes under the hook. That is one of the things a custom beat sorts out before you record.
A custom trap beat from TH6
A custom trap beat starts from your references: the songs you have on repeat, the tempo you like to rap at, and a voice memo if you have one. TH6 builds the beat around that, from the drum pattern to how hard the 808 hits, and shapes it with you until it fits the song.
How a custom beat works
- Send references: two or three songs whose sound you want, your tempo if you know it, and a voice memo or demo.
- You get one price up front, based on your brief. There is no standard rate, because no two songs are the same job.
- TH6 builds a first version. You react, and the beat gets shaped around your song.
- You get the WAV, the stems and an exclusive licence in writing.

Questions before you buy
What BPM is trap?
Most trap sits between 130 and 160 BPM, but because the snare lands on the third beat it feels like half that. A beat at 140 BPM grooves like 70.
What is the difference between trap and hoodtrap?
Hoodtrap is a darker, more melodic branch of trap, played at drill tempo with heavy 808s. The hoodtrap beats in the catalogue are ready to lease; a custom beat can go anywhere in trap.
How much does a custom trap beat cost?
It is priced per brief and agreed before TH6 starts. A lease from the catalogue starts at € 75.
